King Charles II gave people gifts to reward them for fighting the fire, such as silver tankards (big drinking cups).
He also ordered the construction of a monument to remember the Great Fire of London and to celebrate the rebuilding of the city. It is 61 metres high - the exact distance between it and the site in Pudding Lane where the fire began.
