Back Wildlife on Scottish Islands
There are few trees on Scottish islands because it is too windy and the ground is mostly made up of soft peat which isn’t very good to grow in.

Lots of animals live on the coast such as: otters, puffins and seals. You can sometimes see dolphins and killer whales swimming around the islands in the summer too, as well as lots of different kinds of seabirds and waders.

Small insects called midges are also very common in the summer, often known for flying in groups and biting people.
