Back The Tower of London
The Tower of London was built by William the Conqueror, King William I, starting in 1078.

In Tudor times, it was used as a prison. People locked inside have included: Anne Boleyn, Guy Fawkes and Queen Elizabeth I. The guards were called Yeoman Warders or Beefeaters.

Today, the Tower of London is home to the Crown Jewels that belong to the royal family. There is also a museum of armour.

A group of ravens live in the Tower of London. Legend says that if they fly away then a bad disaster will occur so their wings are kept very short to stop this from happening.
